Twisted Stalk Watermelon Berry

Botanical Name: Streptopus  amplexifolius
        
        Common Name: Watermelon Berries
        
        Other Names: meruaqutaq or muuguaq   (watery plant, something like a breast)
        
        Found in:  moist woods, alder thickets
        
        Physical Characteristics:  Grows to 3 feet high at maturity, stems  have a distinctive twist. Leaves have parallel veins/ Flowers are  greenish-white, bell-like with petals that curve back. Berries are red and  juicy, with many seeds.
